What is a Breast Lift?

The natural aging process and various life experiences can change a woman’s body in a number of different ways. Whether it’s due to age, changes in one’s weight, or bearing a child, a woman’s breasts can begin to sag and lose that youthful allure they once had in their younger days. Fortunately, these changes don’t have to be permanent. Thanks to a breast lift, you can reclaim the perky breasts you’ve been dreaming of.

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure designed to rejuvenate a woman’s saggy breasts. The procedure involves removing excess skin and tightening the tissue surrounding the area to give the patient a more youthful breast contour.

In addition to giving the breasts a more uplifted appearance, a breast lift can also help reduce the size of a woman’s areolae to be more proportional to the breast shape. This will help give the breasts a more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

How Breast Lift Works

Breast Lift

Your interaction with Dr. Reilly will start with a consultation. He’ll go over your goals for the surgery and help you understand what results to expect. Depending on your goals and needs, he might also recommend other procedures to go along with your breast lift, such as a tummy tuck or lower body lift as part of a “mommy makeover.” You might also consider a breast augmentation in conjunction with your lift.

On the day of your surgery, you’ll be given the right anesthesia to make you comfortable. Dr. Reilly will then get to work. If an augmentation or reduction is being performed, implants will be inserted, or excess tissue removed, respectively. If not, Dr. Reilly will remove excess skin. He can shift your nipples and areolae or even reduce the size of your areolae if that’s what you desire.

Once all of this is complete, you’ll have time to recover from the surgery, and then you’ll be sent home with a detailed care plan. As soon as you’ve fully healed, you’ll be able to enjoy perkier, firmer-feeling breasts!

Had good reviews from friends who already had their surgery with Dr. Reilly. My husband is a physician who had heard he has an excellent reputation at the hospital. I was scared before surgery but that was about the anesthesia but that went well too. Dr. Reilly was there the whole time in the operating room and held my hand as I went off to sleep. He said he would put in an implant size of my choice but he had me use sizing implants in my bra before surgery and I chose a smaller implant which is what he was trying to tell me and he was right! The size is perfect. He knows what he is doing. tryityoulllikeit

What
You
Can
Expect

After the procedure, you can expect

  • Perkier breasts with minimal scarring
  • Breasts with more projection that don’t lie flat against your body
  • Enhanced fullness in the upper portion of your breasts
  • Improved nipple projection
  • Reduced areola size

A breast lift may take about 2 hours to complete and requires the use of an anesthetic to help make you more comfortable during the surgery. It is generally performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you can return home soon after it is completed but you will need to make sure to have someone around to help you home as you will be tired after the procedure is over.

After the necessary corrections are made, Dr. Reilly will close the incisions and secure the treatment area. You will be sent home with a detailed post-surgical care plan to help guide you on the road to recovery.

You can expect recovery time to take about two to three weeks. During this time, you should refrain from strenuous activities like heavy lifting or repetitive motions that involve your arms to make sure you heal properly.
